Improve Mental Health Services in D.C.

  • ACLU DC Office 915 15th Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20005 United States (map)

The ACLU-DC is exploring a lawsuit challenging the District’s reliance on police to address mental health emergencies. We are hoping to speak with more people who have interacted with MPD while they or a loved one experienced a mental health crisis. To that end, we will be hosting a community open house where individuals with can speak with lawyers about relevant experiences. While we cannot guarantee anyone representation, these conversations will be invaluable to our ongoing investigation. The event will take place on March 20th from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the ACLU-DC’s office: 915 15th Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20005. A social worker will be on-site to support individuals who feel overwhelmed while sharing their stories and to educate any interested attendees about mental health services in D.C. Lunch and transportation subsidies will be provided.
