Stop Cop City - Film Screening and Fundraiser

  • Arlington Central Library - Auditorium 1015 North Quincy Street Arlington, VA, 22201 United States (map)

The Atlanta Police Foundation, corporations, and local officials are trying to destroy hundreds of acres of the Weelaunee Forest to build a massive police training compound. The compound would train cops from around the world in militarized police tactics.

On January 18th, police murdered forest defender Tortuguita who had been organizing tirelessly to Stop Cop City. Cop City must be stopped.

Join us in in event in solidarity with the people working tirelessly to STOP COP CITY.

On November 14th, at 6PM at the Arlington Central Library Auditorium we will host a screening of the film Riotsville, USA. This is a documentary that uses army archival footage to tell the story of fake military towns the US created in 1960s to train police against civilians in civil unrest. This history offers a direct lineage to that of the construction of cop city.

With ongoing genocide in Palestine, it is also important to note that police forces, and particularly those in Georgia have direct ties to the Israeli Army, and often train each other and exchange resources. Cop city will not only be used as a training compound for police departments in this country, but also forces like the IDF from abroad. All our struggles are interconnected, and part of the same grander struggle against oppression.
