Share a Seed Cover Crop Workshop at Upshur Community Garden

  • Upshur Community Garden 1325 Upshur Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20011 United States (map)

Learn about the benefits and importance of cover cropping – a foundational sustainable growing practice – to building soil health! With summer soon to be behind us, it's time to think about fall planting and building soil health over the winter. By adding cover crops to your garden, you can add nutrients back into your soil without using chemical amendments. Your future self will thank you for building healthy, nutrient-rich soil for your spring crops!

The workshop will be co-led by international cover crop expert and Upshur Community Gardener Andy ClarkActivities will include a cover crop overview, planting and cover crop turning demonstration, free cover crop seed and fall/spring seed sharing.

As always, Share a Seed will be accepting surplus seeds from all seasons – so don't forget to bring your spares to share!

Visitors will also be offered tours of the garden and are invited to relax and enjoy the space at your leisure. This is a working garden, so please keep a close eye on pets and small humans.
