Since its inception, Serve Your City has been guided by the core belief that Black and Brown young people deserve not only to survive and get by but to truly thrive and prosper. That is why Serve Your City has been committed for over a decade to ensuring that Black and Brown Youth in DC have access to every support, every resource, and every opportunity that their white counterparts do. And why Serve Your City/Ward 6 Mutual Aid (SYC/W6MA) and our partners continue to work to fill the gap which has been created as a result of years of structural and systemic injustices in Washington, DC. It is that spirit which led to the creation of the “We Keep Us Safe” Back to School Bash & Youth Festival – a day to celebrate the start of the new school year with young people & their families and to make sure that they have both the tangible resources and year-long supports they need to be successful in the upcoming academic year.

This year we want our Fourth Annual B2SB to be the biggest and best Back to School Bash & Youth Festival yet! And we are inviting our entire community — folks who have been with us since the start of SYC/W6MA & folks who are connecting with us for the first time – to be a part of it!
