Please join us for the "Red Alert: Save Our Hospitals" Rally on Saturday, October 10. This event is part of National Nurses United's nationwide campaign to protect patients and communities from devastating cuts to Medicaid and Medicare and to demand investment in healthcare, not cuts.
The closure of MedStar's postpartum unit eliminated more than one-third of all postpartum beds at DC's busiest hospital for births. Nurses continue to raise serious concerns about patient care, healthcare access, and the impact these decisions have on families across our city. Together, we can send a clear message: DC deserves care, not cuts.
Following the rally, we will take action with nurses, patients, and allies to deliver our demand that MedStar restore postpartum care services and protect access to healthcare for our communities.
This will be a community-wide, family-friendly event with music, activities, a free original children’s book, and free food while supplies last. Nurses will also be providing free wellness checks for anyone in the community from 11 AM - 3 PM.
