Last year was unprecedented in the number of attacks from the federal government on DC’s autonomy and right to self-governance. Unfortunately, we don’t expect this year to be any different. DC Justice Lab will continue to work with local and national partners to protect local laws and policies that are evidence-based, effective, and enacted by DC residents and their elected officials.
As part of that work, we are hosting a virtual Lunch & Learn session on January 30 at 12 pm to discuss Congressional attacks on the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Amendment Act of 2022. This law established important safeguards for policing in DC, including stronger oversight and transparency, limits on dangerous tactics, and standards and policies that promote de-escalation. This session will kick off our Lunch & Learn series covering various public safety and justice issues impacting the District.
Join us to learn more about the law, the evidence behind it, its impact, and the status of efforts in Congress to repeal it.
