Black Lives Matter DC is hosting Black August: Liberation Day, a free, family-friendly community gathering honoring the spirit and legacy of Black August through political education, culture, collective care, and Black joy.

Black August is a time to study our history, deepen our political education, build collective power, and honor the freedom fighters who shaped the struggles for Black liberation. This gathering is a chance to learn, connect, celebrate, and imagine the liberated future we're building together.

This year's Black August Liberation Day honors the revolutionary legacy of Black youth in Washington, DC and beyond.
