American University Red Cup Day Rally

  • Kerwin Hall 3590 Nebraska Avenue Northwest Washington, District of Columbia, 20016 United States (map)

Red Cup Day is one of Starbucks' biggest days of the year and one of the busiest days for baristas. While Starbucks promotes holiday drinks and giveaways, more than 12,000 union baristas across the country have spent nearly five years organizing for a fair contract that addresses low wages, understaffing, unpredictable hours, and workplace protections.

Join Starbucks Workers United on Nebraska Avenue NW, outside Kerwin Hall, for a Red Cup Day Rally at 11am on Thursday, November 12. This is part of a coordinated national day of action at 46 universities across 25 states. Students, campus workers, labor unions, and community allies are coming together to support Starbucks baristas and build momentum for the national boycott.

American University maintains business ties with Starbucks through its campus location. This rally will bring the fight for a fair contract directly to campus, build student support for the boycott, and call on AU to cut ties with Starbucks until the company reaches a fair union contract.
