Street Law 101

  • Black Workers & Wellness Center 2500 Martin Luther King Junior Avenue Southeast Washington, DC, 20020 United States (map)

With the city and Congress fighting for more tough-on-crime measures, we know this means more police and more police means more negative interactions with police. Knowing our rights won’t reform or fix policing but it is an important part of community defense and keeping each other safer in the street and stronger in the courtroom. It helps expose the true scope and cost of policing in our neighborhoods. This workshop also highlights the various contractions between many of the policies and tactics being employed by many local law enforcement agencies and what is allegedly protected by the US constitution.
