DC Guaranteed Income Coalition Meeting

The Agenda is exciting. We have a great meeting in store: we will host a presentation by Janna M. Parker, Executive Director of PG ChangeMakers and Yolanda Johnson, Executive Director of PG Casa. Here is how the Greater Washington Community Foundation described this historic public-private partnership:

Thrive Prince George’s (is) a two-year, $4 million guaranteed-income pilot that seeks to provide greater economic stability and mobility for families in the region. The program, which is spearheaded by the Greater Washington Community Foundation, Prince George’s County Executive and Council, and the Meyer Foundation, will provide monthly payments of $800 to 50 youth (age 18-24) who have aged out of foster care and 125+ seniors (age 60+) for a 24-month period with no strings attached and no requirements tied to employment.

Regarding the Pay Equity Fund, read this op-ed in the Grio authored by LaDon Love, SPACEs in Action Executive Director, as she discusses the likely impact of Mayor Bowser's budget cuts on DC women and children in her piece entitled National Day Without Child Care: DC Shouldn’t balance its budget on the backs of our babies.

Mother's Outreach Network's pilot update will be provided. Mother Up guaranteed income research pilot is still recruiting participants. Learn updates at the meeting.
