Unlock the Box DC Coalition Kickoff

  • The Festival Center 1640 Columbia Road Northwest Washington, DC, 20009 United States (map)

The Unlock the Box DC Coalition is a group of survivors and other advocates working to end the use of solitary confinement in all its forms in the District of Columbia. The DC Coalition is part of the Unlock the Box national campaign to end solitary confinement in the United States.

These past few months, we've worked to make the newly revised ERASE Solitary Confinement Act stronger than ever. This bill would ban solitary confinement in DC jails and prioritize the health and well-being of our incarcerated community members. The September 6 event will mark the re-introduction of the bill by Councilmember Brianne Nadeau. We'll hear directly from survivors of solitary, learn details about the bill, and celebrate our progress.
