The National Park Service plans to clear a homeless encampment on federal land in McPherson Square on Feb. 15, two months ahead of its previously planned clearing. DMHHS has not sent the social services it promised! Its claims of unsafe & illegal activity are unfounded.

There are more than 70 people that live at the encampment. Furthermore, timing to do this during hypothermia season, when freezing temperatures create dangerous situations for the District’s unhoused population, is inhumane!!

We demand that every unhoused tenant either be placed in safe, long-term housing (with necessary additional services provided) upon being removed or left alone!!!
