Know Your Rights & How To Film The Police

The District of Columbia is enforcing a youth curfew starting Friday, September 1st, in eight predominantly black neighborhoods. Areas like Howard, U St. Georgia Ave, Benning Road and Congress heights.

They claim that the goal is to deter violent crime, but statistics show that curfews do not reduce crime, so why are we still enacting them? We know this is just a tactic to further criminalize black bodies, not just youth.

As we strategize on how to keep our people safe we need to ensure we have the tools and knowledge to also keep ourselves safe. Join us for a crash course on knowing your rights and how to properly film the police during civilian encounters. We will share further information on how we can take steps towards curbing the negative impacts of the curfew during the training.
