Life After Release is a formerly incarcerated women-led organization in the DMV area (DC-Maryland-Virginia). We center Black joy as a practice of resistance, our Grand Re-Reopening we will be building community and breaking bread. We center the leadership of formerly incarcerated people, especially our mamas. We will spotlight the experiences of women who are returning citizens.

Life After Release is dedicated to building, educating and empowering formerly incarcerated individuals and their loved ones on how to navigate the criminal justice system. Our aim is to increase our grassroots donor base, support local Black business owners and celebrate Black joy!
