As we work to resist police violence and harassment and to protect our communities an important resource in our toolkit is observing and watching police. Cop Watch is made up of community members, families, organizers, youth, activists and others who seek to confront and expose police misconduct, harassment and brutality. We specifically want to encourage Black folks in and from Wards 7 & 8 to attend THIS training!
CopWatch can help build a culture of resistance and organizing in our communities while police still occupy our neighborhoods in order to decrease the community’s reliance on police.
We believe that engaging our people in CopWatch is the entry point to build a consistent presence in our communities, to build trust, and to start to build community power and safety. Building community also means being able to support and advocate for those who experience police violence in our community.
