Claudia Jones School presents... Saturday School: The Struggle for Gender Equality & Against Male Supremacy.
▪️The overturn of Roe has heightened the exposure of the Supreme Court’s undemocratic rule and crisis of illegitimacy while putting millions of working women and people who give birth at risk. This continued assault on democracy in the United States must be examined from a working class perspective about the exploitation and oppression of women historically.
▪️Claudia Jones, who in 1949, wrote An End to the Neglect of the Problems of Negro Women! and synthesized the concept of “triple oppression” which looked at the plight of Black women who were oppressed because they were Black, because they were women, and because they were workers.
The Claudia Jones School will be joined by organizers Wawen Ewimbi, Taryn Fivek, and Bennett Shoop who will lead discussions on Claudia Jones's important works, queer liberation, and women's equality in light of the struggle for abortion rights in this country.
